Athena Clinic in Hawaii - Brow Lift

Brow Lift

A brow lift is designed to smooth creases on the forehead while raising the brow line and reducing frown lines. It is one of the least complex and least painful procedures in cosmetic surgery. A brow lift can erase many of the effects of aging, leaving you with a smoother, more youthful appearance.

The Surgery

Brow lift surgery begins with a small incision that typically starts at the level of the ear and extends upward and across the forehead. Incisions are made as close to the hairline as possible in order to minimize the visibility of scars. In the case of bald patients, a mid-scalp incision may be the best option. Once the incision is made, Dr. Peterson can remove excess muscle and tissue that cause creasing or frown lines. The incision is then closed and excess skin is trimmed away. A brow lift is typically performed on an outpatient basis, using local anesthetic and a mild sedative.

After the Surgery

Following brow lift surgery, patients are advised to keep their heads elevated for several days to minimize swelling. Some bruising and swelling is common, but generally subsides within a week's time. Bandages are removed after a day or two, while stitches generally come out within the first two weeks. Patients can expect to return to work in a seven to ten days.
